What is Reiki?
_There are lots of resources out there to explain exactly
what Reiki is, how it works and its history. One of my favorites is
William Lee Rand's reiki.org. Instead, I'd like to give you some information here about Reiki that helps you to get to know me a bit. Also see my FAQ page for a bit more info.
Some of my favorite things about Reiki:
It feels great: For both the recipient and the giver, it's heavenly.
It's basic: You don't need any special tools or equipment. Pretty much everyone has hands, right?
It's forever: After you receive the gift of Reiki you never lose it.
It's universal: Reiki is dogma-free! There is no specific right way to do Reiki and with so many branches there are lots of ways to apply the same loving energy.
It's relaxing: Who can't use some relaxation and stress-reduction?

_It's harmless:
Universal life-force energy can do no harm; it will always work for the
highest good. Reiki complements conventional medicine while working to
enhance healing properties of treatments (medication, therapy, etc.) and
reducing their negative side-effects.
It's spiritual and non-denominational: People of any and all faiths practice Reiki as it is not associated with any religion nor is it "New Age." However, it is very spiritual. In fact, because of its inherent spiritual nature it only brings people closer to their belief systems. While on the table, many recipients experience deep spiritual connection, messages or visions. Most, if not all, practitioners have similar experiences during and/or as a result of the attunement process as well as throughout the process of healing others and ourselves.
It's balancing: We're all out of whack sometimes. We focus too much on work and neglect our creative side, spend time worrying about how others perceive us and don't live authentically or even are so rooted in our bodies being busy all the time that we don't connect to our spiritual selves. Reiki will help bring you back into harmony.
It's useful: There are tons of applications such as first aid, relieving everyday aches and pains, helping bring about a sense of ease and peace to events that happened in the past, aiding loved ones who live far away and even scoring a parking spot.
It's drug-free pain relief: Who knows what the long-term effects will be for popping all those pain relievers? Instead of taking another pill, use Reiki to give yourself comfort and ease.
It's green: No tools are manufactured, no precious resources are used up and nothing ends up in a landfill as a result of Reiki. Further, its power source is unlimited and perpetually renewable.
It's free: Once you have Reiki you can take care of yourself and your loved-ones without cost. Who doesn't like free?
