Reiki for all aspects of your life

Reiki is used in all kinds of accepted mainstream settings. You might be surprised!

~  The medical community is embracing Reiki more and more every day. It's used in hospitals and clinics around the country. The website http://www.reikiinhospitals.org lists about 60 facilities which have added it to their services.

~  The National Institutes of health are conducting clinical trials on Reiki. The studies are at different phases of testing. See the NIH's website for complete information: http://clinicalresearch.nih.gov/.

~  Mesothelioma.com is a leading web cancer resource for patients of mesothelioma cancer, a rare but aggressive disease. Patients of mesothelioma are now utilizing alternative mesothelioma treatment, such as Reiki therapy as an effective palliative therapy in overall cancer treatment regimens.

As mentioned in the “All About Reiki” page, Reiki is not associated with any religion. It's important to note that there are many established religion-based institutions that have Reiki courses or utilize the healing technique. 

~  One helpful website for Christians and Catholics is http://www.christianreiki.org/. 

~  Reiki education and treatments are part of programs at Jewish Community Centers around the country. Locations include Manhattan, NY, Salt Lake City, UT, Stoughton, MA, and Cleveland, OH.

~  Authors  of two very popular and wonderful books on Reiki (Diane Stein's Essential Reiki and Magick of Reiki by Christopher Penczak) are Wiccan.

~  The founder of the system of Reiki, Mikao Usui, was a Buddhist and many people around the world who continue to practice Reiki are Buddhists. 

And, just for fun, there are plenty of famous people who either Reiki clients or are practitioners (many thanks to the wonderful blog The Reiki Digest for some of this info):

~  Lisa Oz (Dr. Oz's wife) is a Reiki Master. She's been quoted as saying: "The next wave of medical advances will be when we come to recognize the body as an energetic system."

~  Dr. Mehmet Oz has talked about it on Oprah. He was also one of the first physicians to include a Reiki practitioner in his department at The Columbia Presbyterian Medical Centre in New York City.  The New York Times Magazine reported that Dr. Oz has allowed the use of Reiki during open heart surgeries and heart transplant operations. He's said "Reiki has become a sought-after healing art among patients and mainstream medical professionals." He's also featured it on his own television show and his website. 

~  Well-known author of over 20 books, Ph.D., and angel expert Doreen Virtue is a Reiki master.  


~  Country superstar musician Shania Twain received a Reiki session in an episode of her show Why Not? With Shania Twain on OWN.

~ According to an article in OK! Magazine many Hollywood stars are fans of Reiki including Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Naomi Watts and former Spice Girl Mel B.

~ Fashion designer Donna Karan has opened two centers in the United States, Urban Zen Foundation, to support well-being and healing. This story includes a photograph of Karan giving Reiki to a cancer patient.

~ Singer Kellie Pickler received Reiki as part of a spa experience on the Ellen Show.

~  Pro golfer Phil Nickelson and the Chicago White Sox have benefited from receiving Reiki, according to the New York Times.

~  Renowned medium Lisa Williams is a Reiki master and even performed a healing on her Lifetime

~  Jennifer Anniston's dog, Norman, regularly receives Reiki along with other healing modalities.

~  Olympic medal winning and Tour de France cyclist Hayden Roulston credits Reiki for helping him to overcome his serious heart condition and to keeping him on the winning track. He's also a Reiki master.

~  Amazing soul and R&B singer Erykah Badu is a Reiki master.

~  Ann Dexter-Jones is many things: rock star wife, New York socialite, the mother of famous DJ Samantha Ronson (Lindsey Lohan's ex- girlfriend), fashion designer Charlotte Ronson and music producer Mark Ronson, and Reiki master. Now there's a busy
lady!

~ Actress Judith Light, best known for the sitcom Who's the Boss, is pictured here with a framed set of Reiki principles in her Broadway dressing room.

~ Oprah's magazine has featured Reiki a couple of times including as a part of their Real Women Discovered Their Dream Careers recurring feature and in an article on alternative therapy techniques to help people deal with stress.
