                    Student-Only Events

As a service to my students and the community I want to create opportunities for learning as well as for volunteering. These events are available to all of my students, that is anyone who has taken at least one level of Reiki training from me at any time.

                    Attunement Practice

                    TBD March 2012

All students who have completed the Reiki Master/Teacher training with me at any point are eligible to participate in the attunement practice sessions set up for each M/T class. Please come with the steps memorized so the time together can be helpful for you. My goal is to help you be the most confident and knowledgeable Master/Teacher you can be.

                    Please RSVP. Space is limited.

                    Continuing Education Clinic:

                    Saturday, February 25 2:30-4:30pm

                    Healing Waters & Sacred Spaces
2426 NE Broadway St. Portland, OR 97232

With Reiki, while the talk about the subject is nice, nothing compares to the learning that happens through the actual experience of it. Providing students with experience while being of service to those in need is a double bonus! We have 1-hour clinics for people who have a little something unusual going on for them so students can feel what it's like to work on someone who is in need of Reiki and is out of the ordinary.

Volunteer recipients are needed, of course. We look for anyone who is extra-ordinary and would like a free one-hour treatment. That is anyone like this:

                    • Neurological disorders: epilepsy, Lou Gehrig's disease/ALS, lupus, muscular dystrophy and Tourette syndrome
                    • Ailments: AIDS/HIV, cancer, Lyme disease, etc
                    • Pregnant with multiples
                    • Physical or sensory disabled: deaf, congenital or a result of injury, etc.
                    • Artificial or removed body parts: i.e. pacemaker
                    • Transgender
                    • Terminally ill

NOTE: To help us learn we're not going to be repeating conditions. Here are the ones we've covered already: MS, hip replacement, COPD, stroke, polycystic kidney disease, pregnant (single pregnancy), rhumatoid arthritis, cerebral palsy, and blind.

                    How it works:

                    • 1 room with 3 tables, 1 client on each
                    • Approximately 3 Reiki practitioners on each table
                    • Practitioners switching tables each 20 minutes so everyone gets ample time to work on each recipient
                    • A respectful, seamless session for recipients to get 1 solid hour of Reiki with multiple people providing it (heavenly!)

                    Which students can participate?

                    All!

                    Structure of the Event:

Practitioner volunteers and I spend about 10 minutes before the recipients arrive talking about how things will go, then when the recipients arrive we provide them with a bit of information explaining what will take place. After the hour of Reiki, the recipients may have questions and we save a few minutes for this. After the recipients leave, the practitioners and I need time for sharing comments, questions and impressions.

                    Cost: $10-20 sliding scale

To register: Contact me if you want to be a practitioner volunteer OR if you know anyone who fits the bill and would like to be a recipient.

                    Youth Clinic
                    Saturday, January 28th 12-2pm

We've had four clinics for the youth so far and they are always an incredible experience
! It's such an honor for us to be of service to this group in high need of care, respect and trustworthy adult role-models. The next volunteer training will take place in the Spring.

                    Staff Clinic
                    TBA

The staff members at NAfY are constantly giving to a group of people who require trust, boundaries, confidentiality and their caretakers be fully present. This can take quite a bit out of them. So, it's time for a Reiki clinic where they get to receive.

In the last clinic we were honored to be spending part of 11/11/11, a great day of manifestation, intention and creation, being of service to them.

                    Volunteer Training
                    TBA, Spring 2012

In order to participate in the clinics for the youth, NAfY requires all volunteers to undergo a short training which includes a criminal background check and for those folks who've lived outside the state of Oregon within the last 5 years, a fingerprint check.

If you'd like to participate in the youth clinics, a truly beautiful, heart-opening experience, come to the training. Pizza will be provided. Let me know if you'll be joining us.

About New Avenues for Youth in their words:
Since 1997, New Avenues for Youth has offered programs and services that empower homeless youth to exit street life. Our values shape how we address the complex issue of youth homelessness and the solutions we offer.  New Avenues believes that every young person should have food, shelter, and access to education and job training.  We believe we must go beyond meeting basic needs and offer programs that heal young lives and foster growth and independence.

Our mission is to work in partnership with our community to prevent youth homelessness and provide homeless and at-risk young people the resources and skills needed to lead healthy, productive lives.

                    Future Opportunities

I’m currently working with a few other organizations around town to be able to provide those in need—the list is endless!—with Reiki.  We will go in to these places with massage tables and supplies and provide some needy folks with mini-sessions (20 minutes or so) of Reiki.

Complete information to come when the details are solidified.

If you are connected with any organization who might be interested in having those who they serve receive Reiki, let me know! It is a huge honor to be of service.
